My MyDaq is not accepting the serial number it came with

I had to format my computer and am trying to reinstall the software. I have the CD and the MyDaq unit but not the Box. This installation process is rejecting the serial number on the unit. My unit has a ###A##A format serial number where A is a letter and # is a number. I know it should have an A#####... format. I called National Instruments and they told me to post on a forum, and here we are.

I think what you are looking for is the activation code that is either on the sleeve of the DVD or on the box. It's trying to validate the license of the software. The serial number on MyDAQ is only to uniquely identify it. It is not used to validate/license the software piece.

Just to avoid confusion, I think gaving meant the serial number. Typically they are in the format M##X#### (may be an extra or a lesser number in there). I assume you are trying to activate LabVIEW Student Edition? This White Paper may be helpful: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14146/en/.

Yeah I had the same problem. It gave me a number to call and I called it. The guy asked for my name and made me a profile. I told him I was a student a few times. Then he realized students only get support on the forums page and refused to give me any more information regarding how to actually make this thing work on my computer.

There is no serial number on the sleeve of the CD or on the CD itself. I am trying to get around the issue so I can just use it in evaluation mode but there didn't seem to be a way to do that.

Hey OSUstudent,

I think the real issue is that myDAQ and the version of LabVIEW is licensed through the distributor, Studica. You can contact them at  888.561.7521.

I had difficulty finding the serial number at first because in the Studica package I purchased with a new textbook, it seemed there were many potential serial numbers to be found, and it is not quite clear where it is located. For those of you who are in the same position as I was, and purchased the textbook and NI myDAQ set from Studica, the serial number/ the certificate of ownership was placed in the back cover of my textbook. I hope that may help some of you.
