i have connected a Sharp Infrared Proximity Sensor to analog input on the myRIO  to measure distance from it?

You will need to look at the user manual of the sensor that you are using, and find a relationship between the distance and the voltage output of the sensor. If you need to learn more about how to use the myRIO, I would suggest going through the myRIO project essentials guide.
