J1939 Communication Software

Solved!
Go to solution
Hello,

Im currently working on developing a communication software using the J1939 protocol.
I have little experience on J1939, im using NI-CAN hardware (Philips SJA 1000) with two channels.

Im trying to send a command message but i cannot figure out a way of making it possible to send
it, mainly because the size is larger than the CAN Frame Api lets me send.
For example:
00EF0006 04 AC 81 00 00000040 00000000

As you can see it's a fairly large command, can any one help?

Regards,
- Javier

We have J1939 software at http://www.simmasoftware.com/j1939.html.  Also, we have an introduction for J1939 and benchmarks as well.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hello, im facing a problem in a project im building, wich is a machine with a siemens PLC and a Volvo FM truck, and i need to read some data of the truck(PGN) but the issue is that i canot configure my j1939 module because the manufactor of the truck wont provide me the 64 bit NAME of the ECU it seems they never know what that is, so im stuck at this point.

I Would like to ask you if there is any other way to get this information?

Thank you for your time.
