Very impressive Ben.
...Confession time!
I was just guessing.
I own and use a modern smalled version after I sharpen my hands saws but I had never seen one like Henrik had shared.

I was hoping for a better view of the boilerplate before guessing! the makers name (stamped visable, but unreadable on the first photo) led me down a nasty hole researching dental instrument manufacturers since it looked to me like it was for pulling teeth! Hey, I guess I was right! just the wrong type of teeth!

My first guess was torture.
He never said what he used it for, could well be off label use. 😄

This time I the batteries of the camera went down and I had to learn how to get a picture of my phone 1. smaller for posting and how to enter and post via mobile...
Should have asked one of my daugthers 😄
@Christian, well the solution picture show how I used it. And generally: The joy of engineering is to do what you want with the stuff you can get 🙂

I guess my strategy of buying new blades only works when there are stores to buy from. This strategy is not recommended on MainStream Preppers.

Exactly !
maybe I can let others try their hand again but this time with something I purchased recently (hint: a prepper may find a need for it) but have yet to use since the thing I would use it with is still laking the handle which is on back-order.
Have fun speculating!

I thought the thing on the right looked like the tool you use to align the tailstock of a lathe.
After a bit of thinking I just went ahead and did a reverse image search. I didn't know this was something that needed to be done and ended up watching a youtube video of how to use it.

OK, Ben will larn something here.
What do you mean by and how do you do a "reverse image search"?
Curious,
Ben

If you go to Google Images you can click the little camera button on the search bar.
Then you can just drag the image into the new search bar. Then through some black magic you get links to purchase the thing you posted.

Well I did try to return the fun...

If you are using chrome, you can just right-click the image right in the forum 😄
Use it all the time!
