counterfeit NI GPIB-USB cable

I have never run across counterfeit NI hardware before since the equipment is purchased new from NI.

What is going on with https://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/spectrum-analyzer-Agilent-4395A-GPIB-tu-USB/... ?

The photo of that cable does not look like similar ones I have seen in the past.

Wow, I've never heard of an error like that before. That cable looks looks exactly like ones I've seen in the past (besides the test equipment solutions sticker on it). I think those cables are obsolete now and they have moved to GPIB-USB-HS+, which look a little different, but nothing about that pictures tells me it is a counterfeit.

That's the 3rd reported occurrence in the past few weeks, someone else had the same issue here:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/GPIB-USB-HS-error-37051-37052-37053/m-p/3757...

I tried entering the serial number of the unit in question linked in this thread to register it under my products, it was rejected. I'll follow up there.
