Can't see my 6602 or 6014 in MAX DAQmx devices.

Hi

I have a 6602 Counter Timer and a 6014 in my computer and I have recently installed version 8.5 of NIDAQmx together with version 4.2 of MAX.  Now I can't see either device in MAX.  I am correct in thinking these devices are not supported by NIDAQmx?  Will I need to install the traditional NIDAQ drivers and use them?  I am hoping to write some software in C# (Visual Studio.NET 2005) to setup and use the devices.

Kind regards

Hi Jamie,

The PCI/PXI 6602 and PCI/PXI 6014 are supported by DAQmx 8.5 as mentioned here:

http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions_pci_pxi.htm

You should not need to install the traditional DAQ drivers as well.  Did Windows detect the cards when you restarted the computer after installing DAQmx?  You can check from Device Manager to see if the cards are detected and installed (should be under Data Acquisition Devices).  If they aren't there, then they won't show up in MAX. You can try removing the cards or replacing them in different PCI slots and see if they are detected then.

If they are installed in Device Manager, it could be a corrupted MAX database problem.  You can fix that by deleting the <National Instruments folder>\MAX\Data folder and restarting the computer.  Make a backup of that folder somewhere just in case.

Let me know if that works!
