How to wire a speed transducer/TTL signal to the 9401 and test on MAX

I have set up a lebow transducer with torque and speed taps to a cDAQ 9172 through a NI 9401 for speed.  The signal wire is connected to the DIO port 1 and the common to 14.  When I run MAX and try to aquire signal - counter input - Frequency, it shows a message that no supported devices found.  I have the wires connected to a metter also and the meter displays the correct speed.

Hi Awak,

You need to put the 9401 in slot 5 or 6 of your 9172 to have access to the counters on the backplane.  This is mentioned in the 9172 User Guide but it is a common issue that people run into.  For this reason our more recent 9174 and 9178 chassis do not have these slot restrictions.

Best Regards,
