I have a DIAdem installation that has been working for years until one day it starts to display the message

"The internal DIAdem data organization returned an initialization error"

and DIAdem would not start.  Uninstalled DIAdem and reinstalled and now get the message....

"Could not initialize USI for REPORT.  Errorcode:-1906"

When you click OK on this message box DIAdem closes.

Can anyone clue me in on what is going on here and what to do to solve it?

Hi Sarm,

What applications have you installed onto that computer since your DIAdem program was last working?  We have known conflicts with certain versions of AutoDesk and SQL Server, for instance.

There have been no other aplications installed in the past few months except for Windows updates.  Tried to install on another computer with same Windows update level, experienced no problems.

Hi Sarm,

OK, after you uninstalled DIAdem did you manually delete any DIAdem-related files?  Also, do you have any other NI software installed on that computer?

Actually it was done both ways.  The first time DIAdem was reinstalled no files were deleted.  The second time all DIAdem related files that could be identified were manually deleted.  Both of these installs were preceded by an DIAdem uninstall.  The result was the same (the Errorcode-1906 message).

No other NI software is installed on the PC.

Hi Again Sarm,

R&D says that error -1906 means that the USI configuration is corrupted.  First, close DIAdem, then delete the following USI configuration file from your computer:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\Shared\USI\Config\storetypes.usiconfig

Now open DIAdem again and immediately close it down again.

Now double-click on each of the *.URI files in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\USI\Bin\

Finally re-register any DataPlugins you had added to DIAdem previously.

Let us know if this helps,
