Decrease scripting tools initialisation time

Status: New

reopened for reevaluation

Original idea from Matthias Baudot in https://anchor.fm/wired-in-software/episodes/Episode-6---Matthias-Baudot-from-Studio-Bods-emtpti

When you have lots of modules (20+), initializing module selector control tends to take seconds that can be annoying when you need to use the scripting tools.

Finding a way to remove this init time would greatly improve the user experience in large application development.

Not a priority.

Not sure why this was declined, but it's a major PITA and a high friction point. Makes me not want to use the tools sometimes.

@MichaelAivaliotis every single feature request we receive is measured against these metrics:

1. How many kudos does the request receive (i.e. "how much do you want it")

2. How well do we and the Trusted Advisors think it fits into the DQMH paradigm (i.e. "how much do we want it")

3. How much work do we estimate would go into implementing it (i.e. "how much does it cost")

4. Is there a work-around to achieve the same thing / does this prevent you from doing things?

4 years ago when this feature request was first posted, we had other, more pressing features prioritized.

I will reopen this request so the Consortium can reevaluate it.

To add to what Joerg said... we are also open for people to pay us to implement a feature they really really want 😉

Fab
