Request VI Template?

Solved!
Go to solution

Is the request VI generated from a clean block diagram or based on some template? If based on a template, can I replace it? If so, where can I find it?

If you go to this folder:

<National Instruments>\LabVIEW 20XX\project\Delacor\DQMH\_DQMH New Event\templates

You will find some templates. The scripting tools expect a lot of little details to be there, like the names of certain structures. It may be able to tolerate a very small modification, but I wouldn't touch it!

I didn’t want to modify the logic, only the layout of the diagram, so that after running the script for generation, the code would be less chaotic. Maybe something is wrong with me, but knowing how awkward these autogenerated diagrams are, I just can’t sleep.

However, I see that the templates have too few "stubs" to achieve what I want without modifying the generator.

It seems I’m left with the following options: a suggestion on the Idea Exchange, manual fixes, or sleepless nights (the last two options might be combined).

You should not ever be looking at the block diagram of a request VI. We will most probably not spend any energy tidying it.

That being said, please create a feature request - the number of kudos might make us change our minds 🙂

Yes, I know, but it's like the zoom feature in LabVIEW. You supposedly shouldn't need it, but NI added it anyway because it was a pain point for someone. Here is my idea.
