DMM for low resistance

Status: New

The minimal range and the test current for resistance measurement of NI's DMMs (ex PXI-4072) are :

A DMM with a lower range and a higher test current (eg Keysight M9183A) would be very useful in some cases.

The idea is not related to Keysight's driver but to the specifications of NI's DMMs.

The M9183A is much better for low resistance measurement but it is not a LCR meter.

Thanks for the feedback!  We'll take it into consideration for future DMM designs.

An SMU is a good option if you'd like to have full control over the test current of your resistance measurements.  The NI 4138 is a good option that would be able to source 10 mA through a 20 Ω load and achieve better than milliohm resolution.

I have used an SMU in a previous application where the resistance was below 100mΩ.

With resistances >1Ω, a Keysight M9183A is a much cheaper option.

@cwinkler

I suggest DMM to improve the performance of their DMMs for low reasistance measurements.

It should be at least as good as the M9183A from Keysight. This is not related to Keysight's driver for their DMMS.
