C-series module for functional safety NI-9351

Hello, everyone,

my group bought a  C-series module for functional safety NI-9351 for experiment set-up.

but after reading the Manual, I still not understand how it works and what does it work for. I think it might be used for emergence stop?

Does anyone know this Module?

These are supposed to be used in cDAQ or cRIO used in industrial automation that requires a certain level of functional safety certification.

Do you know if it can be connected to the laser machine's external safety interface or thermocouple so that it can monitor temperature or laser condition?
