Connecting an Encoder to NI9421

Hey,

I am new to the the topic of data aquisition an wanted to ask if I could use a NI 9421 Digital Input Module together with an encoder which has an amplitude of 4,5 V for A and B and 5V for Z. Is that possible? It should be connected to a cDAQ 9189.
