NI 9482 Relay Module life expectancy

Hello,

I cannot find clear information about the maximum relay cycle of the NI 9482 Module.

The following is written in the user manual:

Life expectancy

Mechanical (no load).................. 20,000,000 operations

Electrical (connecting to load) ... 100,000 operations

MTBF ............................................... Contact NI for Bellcore MTBF or MIL-HDBK-217F specifications

What does it mean "no load"? What is the interest of using a relay if nothing is connected to it?

Hi!

The reason we specify the life expectancy without load is because it can vary a lot and we can't test the module for every load possible.

I hope it helps you to understand. To get a more detailed explanation, please follow this link: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/375472H-01/switch/relay_life/

Clement

Thank you Clément for your reply. In our application, the current through the relay will be 10µA, so we will consider 2 000 000 cyles of lifetime.

Best regards.
