Our company is developing a system with NI PXI 6683 to capture the raw data between other two devices, like Wireshark. Below image provides a brief setup for this system.
I reviewed the NI 6683 Datasheet, but still struggled whether the below requirement can be met:
- When the frame arrives at the NIC, the NIC shall timemark each received Ethernet Frame. The time resolution shall be 10μs or better. (Note: The system is independent from Device A or Device B.)
I assume that there is a clock running and a register will be periodically updated on the NIC. When an Ethernet Frame arrives at the NIC, the NIC saves the received frame into a buffer together with the current value in the register. Our application reads out these data from the buffer. Therefore, our tool could determine the time deviation between two successive Ethernet Frame.
Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance
