That does it! I found the file in D:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\sharcfiles\ni4070 . A bit of history: at one time I was installing NI software on my D drive because C was getting a bit full. This is now resolved (thanks to Samsung!) so I reverted the registry change I did to make it install on the D drive. Unfortunately, this seems to have confused the MAX software as it seems to be expecting the file to be on the C drive. I guess repairing or re-installing DAQmx would fix it but for now I have just copied the sharcfiles folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-DAQ (this folder does exist but was missing the sharcfiles sub-folder).
