I need to get data with a PXI-4071 between the rising and falling edges of a trigger signal. Can that be done?

Hi George,
First of all, what is your trigger? It is possible to sample from your 4071 as long as your trigger signals are within the reading rate specifications of the 4071. The max reading rate is listed on the specs, 10kS/s for 4.5 digits of resolution. Otherwise, I would highly recommend checking out the following documentation on DMM triggering:
PXI-4071-DC Voltage DMM/Switch Handshaking Scan Rates
If you're using a switch: Multi-Module Switching with National Instruments Switches
Let me know if you still have questions!

I assume you are referring to a digital trigger being imported to the instrument via one of the PXI trigger lines or the front panel connector?
None of NI's digital multimeters support a stop trigger. You can acquire a finite number of measurements after receiving a trigger. Perhaps you can combine this with other hardware to know when to stop acquiring or what measurements to throw away.
