DMM Max Time Exceeded Timeout

I'm using a DMM 4070 in a PXI 1042 station running Windows 2000.
My application which was made with LabWindows 7.1 reports me this error several times :

Function niDmm_ReadMultiPoint: (return value == -1074126845)
(0xbffa2003)
(0xbffa2003)
Max Time exceeded before operation completed.

Also, when using MAX 3.1.1.3003, the Self-Test on the DMM reports me two types of error :

1)
The device self test failed. The error report from the device driver is as follow :
Error -200020 occured at Self Test
Possible reason(s):
Self-test of the device has failed.

2)
The device self test has failed.  The error report from the device driver is as follow:
Error -223911 occured at Self Test
Possible reason(s):
Internal Software Error occured in DMM software. Please contact National Instruments Support.
Device: Dev1

But when doing a test ressource, it says :

The device has passed the test.

The serial number of the DMM card is 0xDFEA5C

What should I do?

Thanks

Alex

Good afternoon electroline,

Thanks for contacting National Instruments with your issue, we'll try our best to resolve your issue as quickly and efficiently as possible.

You didn't mention which version of the NI-DMM driver you are using, but if you're not using the latest NI-DMM drivers (2.4.5), I strongly recommend upgrading:

I have seen several cases for newer revisions of the 4070, where an upgrade to NI-DMM 2.4.5 resolved the issue of MAX returning a -200020 or -223911 Error during Self-Test.

According to the serial number provided you did receive a newer revision of the board so I'm confident this will fix the issue.

Please let me know if this helps.

Sincerely,
Minh Tran

I am already using NI-DMM 2.4.5 and only 1 IVI session is opened to the DMM.
Also, everytime I am using LabWindows in debug mode, there is always a timeout.
If I use the release mode, SOMETIMES it will pass without any error.

Electroline,

Could you do the following? Go to Device Manager and locate the DMM there under devices. Right click on it and select uninstall. Once you are done uninstalling it go to the Actions menu and select Scan for Hardware changes. This will pop up the found new hardware window in which you will reinstall the driver for the DMM (automatically select the driver). When you are done with this, please test the Device in MAX. Hopefully the error will vanaish if you don't have a hardware/software problem.

If the card still fails the self test. Try to repair the DMM driver. If that also fails the test, then your hardware is most likely damaged.
