Hello everyone!
This user group meeting will be in Eindhoven again, the presentations will be held in English.
1. Danielle Jobe - Practical UI/UX design for LabVIEW
Bad design is everywhere. Have you ever used software that was so confusing or frustrating to work with that your whole day was worse as a result? Have you ever felt the violent desire to rip out your eyes after seeing a jarring color combination? Join Danielle Jobe from VI Technologies to learn the practical fundamentals of UI & UX design and how to apply them to your LabVIEW application.
2. Tom McQuillan - Deep Dive into the Configuration Editor Framework
I saved months of design and development time because I used the Configuration Editor Framework (CEF) in a recent project. In this talk, I'll take you through how I used the CEF to create a bespoke test executive and configuration editor. I'll show you techniques to leverage the inner working of the framework to get some very effective results. I'll also highlight the traps I fell into, so you know what to avoid!
Tom McQuillan (CLA CLED CTA CPI)
I'm a software developer at Scientifica who focuses on improving software within the neuroscience research industry.
I run a LabVIEW YouTube channel (Tom’s LabVIEW Adventure) and regularly teach all of the LabVIEW and TestStand training courses as a Certified Professional Instructor.
Prior to working at Scientifica, I spent two years working at National Instruments, where I supported hundreds of unique applications to solve engineering challenges, and qualified as a Certified LabVIEW Architect. Before working at National Instruments I also worked for two NI alliance partners where I developed custom software and designed automated test equipment.
I'm the co-chair of the eCLA Summit, and I'm on the committee for the GLA Summit and GDevCon.

Hello Stefan,
Thank you for your question. This user group meeting will not be streamed online, we want to encourage in-person networking and conversations (of course within the boundaries of the Corona guidelines).
Best,
Pascal

Thanks to everyone who was able to join us on Thursday and to Pascal & my colleagues at VI Tech for organizing! This was also the first time that I walked away from a LabVIEW event with fresh eggs from someone's backyard chickens, so that was also a nice surprise 🙂
Attached is my presentation (ppt slides) for those who are interested.
Resources mentioned in the presentation:
•Learn about UX from the founders of research-based UX: https://www.nngroup.com/
•Figma design and wireframe tool: https://www.figma.com/
•Google Material Design – guidelines visual design: https://material.io/
•Material design Icons for download: https://material.io/resources/icons/?style=baseline
•Make custom icons as SVG - Use Inkscape: https://inkscape.org/ (free) or Illustrator: https://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator.html (better but costs money)

And if you have feedback on those GCentral Wireframes we want it! All GCentral feedback can be posted here on LAVA:

Finally, if you have feedback on my presentation in general feel free to post it in this thread here. I'm also curious what you'd be interested in learning more about specifically (could be UI/UX related or something else) for the future, so please let me know if anything comes to mind!
