Can Rookie teams get last years LabVEIW and Robot Code?

Solved!
Go to solution

I've had questions from several rookie teams who have registered for FIRST events but since they don't have the Kit Of Parts yet don't have LabVIEW. They are having a hard time looking at LabVIEW. Is there someway they can get last years LabVIEW and licences with the Robot code libraries so they can learn about it before the kickoff?

I've told  them about the 30 day LabVIEW evaluation copies but that still doesn't get them the Robot Code libraries. And they would have use it on just a couple of PC's then move to a different set for the next 30 days.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Unfortunately, we don't have the library available online (only the updates). However, if you still have your disks, you could lend them to the rookie teams to use.

Hello Olivia and Joe,

I have the same issue:  Need to try to get about 6 - 8 kids using the development environment long before Jan 8th (kickoff) as they have never programmed before.  I do have last years NI discs and attempted to install them, however, ran into a "license is good for only 1 year" issue.  So, I'm unable to get these kids going with NI software.  Your solutions above assume that last years discs will help, but they don't help.  Any ideas?  Should we switch to a different platform, such as the Microchip development environment, so that these kids can start getting programming experience?  Any help here would be much appreciated.

Hi Stephen,

I would expect that error with the 2009 FRC software, however you should be able to install the 2010 FRC software. Is it preventing you from installing or is it just a warning that the license will expire this January? A screenshot of the dialog might help shed some light on this.

Hello Olivia,

Does the 2010 FRC software come out only at the opening day of  competition in January, or can we get a copy now?

Thanks for your help in this.
