Confusing kinect

I have the sdk software for the kinect, and everything works in the software, but when I run the dashboard it does't show the skeleton, is there something I need to do?

You also need the Kinect Server from FIRST Forge:http://firstforge.wpi.edu/sf/frs/do/listReleases/projects.wpilib/frs.2012_frc_kinect_server. What is the status of the Kinect - based on the diagnostics page?

I have it, on the status it says that the kinect isn't connected, but it is recognized by the microsoft demo program.

If its recognized by the microsoft demo programs it sounds like the server is not starting correctly (have you hit refresh on the kinect server - sometimes you have to do this a couple of times). You can also try running the kinect server manually by starting the executable- this could help if you are running into User Access Control issues or something similar.

I tried starting the server manualy and somthing popped up and went away too fast to read, I think it said "please insert kinect server in pc" and the kinect kiosk doesn't show the skeleton either.

Make sure the demo programs aren't running at the same time as you are running the driver station. Additionally try cycling power on the Kinect. Past those things I'm not sure what could be going on here. Are you running on the classmate or another PC?
