Using the Magnetic Encoder

We were testing the Magnetic Encoder using the example from the LabVIEW example finder (attached to AI1)

As we ran the magnet past the chip, the voltage level would occasionally get "stuck" low. Typically the voltage level was 4.6 ish and the magnet would produce a negative saw tooth. Sometimes, after the magnet passes the voltage would stay at a lower voltage. Sometimes 1 volt sometimes 3 volts and voltages in between. It would then produce strange results for a while then, usually go back up to the 4.6 ish voltage level.

Any suggestion on how to get consistant results? Or on exactly why it's producing those resuts?

Thanks

Joe V

What was the issue? It may be helpful to other people.

The problem was I wasn't RTFM. We were passing the magnet past the chip when it should have been rotated (as if on the end of a shaft) over the chip.
