Update: This discussion applies to Issues from the 2010 FTC season and is no longer relavant for current FTC competition software.

Hello

I use a LabView 2010 Student edition I have purchased to learn FTC , when I tried to install the FTC toolkit I got an error message requesting that Labview 2009 must be installed before installation can proceed (see picture)

Why can't I use FTC on Labview latest version ? can I overide this error? is something that you can fix?

Thanks

Moshe,
The LabVIEW FTC Toolkit has installer logic that checks for LabVIEW 2009 before it proceeds with the install.  Unfortunately there is no way force the installer to work with LabVIEW 2010.   You could manually move the files from their 2009 install locations to the corresponding 2010 locations to make the VIs available in your LV 2010 palettes, etc.  This will require you to install the eval version of LabVIEW 2009 first.  Please let me know if this will be an options and I'll post a full set of instructions once you have completed installing LV 2009 and the FTC toolkit.

Cheers,

Mark

I have downloaded and installed the Labview 2009 edition and tried to install the FTC tool but got the following error (see attached picture) .

Since the error says I should also install the NXT tool kit I have downloaded the tool LVNXT200f1.exe and tried to install . During installation of the NXT toolkit I got the message that there is nothing to install and no actual installation was done.

I assume it did not install the toolkit since it was already installed as part of the Labview 2010.

Anyway I tried to install the FTC tool but same error got remained

Any other idea, or guidance how to install ?

Thanks

Moshe

Moshe,

Sorry about that one.  I should have seen it coming .  You can download the installer for the LabVIEW 2009 NXT Module here.  Please let me know if you run into any more trouble.

Cheers,

Hello Mark

I have removed and re-installed the LabView 2009 following by trying to install NI LabVIEW 2009 and 2010 LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Module, got the same error message , I assume that is because I have already the LabView 2010 installed with the NXT tools

But although the NXT tool is working in the LAbview 2010 it does not satisy the conditions required for the FTC module to be installed under Labview 2009

Thanks

Moshe

Moshe,

Did you receive an FTC kit?  This will include LabVIEW 2009 Education Edition, which installs LabVIEW and NXT at the same time.  Otherwise please ensure you are installing the NXT Module 2009 into LabVIEW 2009.  The module and the development system must be the same version.

Cheers,

Mark

I had a similar problem earlier, and just posted my question before finally finding the answer.

You need a separate update installed.  Try this:

https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/nilabsnxtmodule/content.xhtml

You may have to login first.

Download the NXT module for Labview 9 at the link above, install it in Labview 9, then run the 2010 FTC Toolkit setup.  That worked for me.

Hello matjc

It does not resolve my problem, I already have the Labview 2010 installed as well as the NXT toolkit for the 2010

I have succesfully installed the evaluation version of Labview 2009 and downloaded the NXT toolkit for the 2009 and got an error saying that I already have a hiegher version installed (see pic)

Any Idea  how to proceed ?

Thanks

Hello!

Let's start from the beginning so that we're all clear.

My installation is Labview 9.0, and it requires the NXT Module before installing the 2010 Toolkit

Others have the newest version of Labview, and they report that it includes the NXT module already.  That means you would only need to install the 2010 Toolkit.

I don't have a way to test the new version yet, but I can check with other coaches.

Based on your description,  it sounds like you have the newest software which includes NXT support, and then afterwards you installed Labview 2009.  The setup program for the 2009 NXT module then choked because it already detected the 2010 materials.  Is this correct?  If so, I'm not sure why you would want to install 2 versions of Labview.

You may need to either be sure that you are installing the 2009 NXT Module in the Labview 9.0 tree, or else uninstall the Labview version that you do not plan to use.

Hope this helps!

Hello Matt

Yes, You are right I use two version of LabView, I started with LabView 2010 that includes the NXT toolkit, but when I tried to install the FTC toolkit I got an error message that I do not have 2009 versions installed . Therefore I was recommended to install the 2009 version and the associated NXT toolkit as well.

I think that FTC package has to be checked to see it is compatible with the 2010 version during installation.

Thanks

Moshe
