If we look at our sent PMs, there is a prominent button where we can "ignore ourselves".

I wonder what the purpose and effect of that would be. 😄

...but you also have the possibility being friend with yourself ;-)) So users with two souls dwelling in their breast now can ignore one and like the other

The view of the sent message is what the user receiving the message would see. Ignoring a user will prevent you from receiving PMs from that particular user. If you do press the button, it adds yourself to your own ignore list. We can look into removing these options, but that is the OOTB design.
