Some confusion about Kudos.  On the main NI discussions page, the numbers for the top kudoed authors is different than that in, say, the LabView forum.  I'm assuming this number is for all forums combined, is this correct?

Secondly, I have noticed that the kudos in the LabView forum fluctuate a bit.  Altenbach for instance, had 106 a short while ago, and the number is now 99.  Why the drop and who makes the determination about these particular kudos.  How do these kudos differ from the ones listed in the profile page (which is much higher).  I assume the kudos listed on the LabView forums page are for authored solutions.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm just wondering how this system works.  Thanks.

You are correct about the main page showing Kudos from all forums. (Insert usual Idea Exchange Kudos = LV Kudos complaint here). The fluctuations are due to the fact that the timescale of the leaderboard is fixed, old ones roll off and new ones are added. Certain people fix themselves atop the leaderboards so you easily notice the fluctuations. In your profile page you can adjust the timescale to your liking, I like a week.

So the kudos listed in the LabView forum (Top Kudoed Authors), are only the kudos that have been given over a certain time frame?  In that case, the mean absolutely nothing, correct?  So someone can afix themselves to the top by spanning their kudos over one year as opposed to one month?  Sounds cheesy.

Put a multiplication sign in there and you have a valid answer.  (Megg-Dittos = how many kudos?  I'm not sure how to convert that.)

No, you have the option to view Kudos for a selcted period not the posters themselves.

The default is something like "week" or month so you are looking at the number of Kudos earned by them over that time period. The drop-off you observed for Christian was because he was off at NI week and not actively posting so the Kudoes from 31 days agao drop out of the total.

Nothing cheesy (aside from hamburgers plus french fries eqauling carots sticks).

Agreed but the forum does not multiply it adds so the total value is menaingless.

"Mega-Dittos" - Years ago people used to call into the Rush Limbaugh show and launch into a long sililoque about how thankful they were for him speaking out blah blah blah. After a particualarly well put monologue the next caller said "Ditto that guy" and it has stuck around since then with the meaning

"Thank you for saying what I would have said".

Oh, I understand the meaning, but thanks for the history lesson.

re Darin.K's: "(Insert usual Idea Exchange Kudos = LV Kudos complaint here)"

On occasion, not often, I am one of those Top Kudoed Authors when viewing the leaderboard for All Forums. Yes, I am one of "those people" that some of you are all too polite to mention by name. Having said that, I'd like to chime in and say a resounding "yes" that Kudos from the Idea Exchange should be parsed from the software and hardware boards.

Not that I'm saying contributions to the Idea Exchange are somehow less of a contribution to the Community than posts to the LV forum. However, those of us with a "back catalog" in the Idea Exchange are receiving (well deserved) Kudos just about every day; whereas our historic LV posts are rarely scanned to the extent that the Idea Exchange was designed for.

I default my forum Bookmark to LabVIEW, so I'm rarely surprised who is on top.

Richard
