Thank you for the images. I tried the same but it is still not working. I am getting a byte count of 0 for the Bytes at Port.
I have attached a screenshot of the vi.

Have you tried communicating with this using another software package to verify that your port and cabling is correct?

Which communications format are you using?  PC Link or Modbus?

What command are you trying to execute?

What is the actual string you are writing via the VISA write?

Communicating via the LL100 software works fine. I am using PC Link.
I am using the same command \0201010INF6\03\r
When I hardwire 6 as the bytecount, the visa read operation times out

Are you sure that your string control on the front panel is set for "\" display?

Some of the characters you need to send to the controller are "non-displayable" in a normal string control/indicator.  If you right click your front panel string control a drop down menu will appear.  One of the options is "\" display.

See this for more info.  http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361B-01/lvhowto/backslash_codes_display/
