Measurement and Automation Software does not find GPIB instrument

If you are using an Agilent (or HP) HP-IB card, the NI-MAX does not
show your HP-IB card on the device list even if the 'passport for
tulip' is properly installed for VISA operation. With the same reason,
instruments connected to an HP-IB will not be shown on the MAX software.

I've managed to get MAX to recognise the scope again, but the computer is still not getting waveforms from the scope.

Would you be able to clarify a bit on what you mean by "computer not getting the waveforms"?  You mention using LabVIEW with your instrument driver, which commands are you using?

I'd also recommend the following steps:

1. select your GPIB port in MAX, scan for instrument, then select your device

2. open up a GPIB control panel (similar to VISA) or the GPIB Interactive Control interface from your start menu on your computer (under NI-488.2)

3. send a *IDN? query

you should recieve information about your instrument, confirming (on top of your device showing up in MAX) that your device is communicating properly.
