NI Spy and Windows 2000

I'm having a problem getting NI Spy to work with Windows 2000.

Here is my system information:

SOFTWARE

NI-488.2 Version 1.60
NI-VISA Version 2.01
NI Spy Version 1.3
MAX Version 2.1.3.14

OPERATING SYSTEM

Windows 2000

HARDWARE

PCI-GPIB

I'm able to click the blue arrow in NI Spy and start data capture. Using MAX, I "Scan for Instruments" on the GIP Interface. The scan completes and the GPIB instruments are all found correctly.

In NI Spy log, the "Description" field always reads "Unknown call".

Looks like you don't have the latest versions of Spy, MAX and VISA they can be downloaded from, http://www.ni.com/support/ > Drivers and Updates > Current. Also in NI-SPY, from the Spy > options menu have you checked NI-488.2?

Hi,
I have LV8 and the Application Builder 8. To make that installer i need, i should have the runtime engine of VISA.

Does somebody of you know, where i could get it? or a folder on a LV Disc or something like that?

Hi SimonKob,
Here is the link to the current versions of VISA. You will have to have VISA installed on your development machine before you can create an installer for it.

Click on the "Additional Installers" category when creating your application installer in the LabVIEW 8 project. Click on the checkbox for NI-VISA runtime. When you build the application installer, it should include the VISA runtime engine installer. Hope this helps!
