Is Silverlight still in 2021?

Or do we have any official word/timeline for its deprecation as it reaches EOL?

NI is aware that Microsoft is ending support of Silverlight, and we are working on removing it from all our shipping products.

For NI products shipping after Oct 12, 2021, Silverlight will no longer be a required component.

I need to amend my earlier statement; I've been told that there will be limited Silverlight requirements beyond October 2021.

Devices nearing EOL and very old architectures will continue to host a Silverlight-based application. WES7 and Phar Lap users will continue to use Silverlight to configure their LabVIEW Web Services.

If you have questions or concerns, please let me know.

Hello,

As cRIO authentication currently requires MS Silverlight, I would like to understand
- How can we avoid using Silverlight for all our existing cRios? Is it a matter of updating the firmware or we have to use the latest drivers (we are mainly using LV2019 drivers).
- What will it change for the future cRio we will purchase?
I havent found any knowledge about this, so I am afraid things got a bit delayed on NI's side?

You will need to update to the 21.0 Linux Real-Time System Image on the cRIO. The new non-Silverlight configuration utility will be there.

I apologize that this hasn't been communicated well. I will follow up with others inside NI about possible documentation.

Documentation would be much appreciated, because the documents attached to the download don't give how to information.

Hello

Since I learn that silverlight is not required anymore, I update a crio to linux rt and indeed I can acess the web client from any browser.

But now I can access the web page of my application without any credential request while the same code before was asking me to provide them? I don't know what should I change to do so, anyone can help with that issue?

Thanks

Kevin.

It might help to know which page you are referring to. For now I'll assume you mean the default page for your RT target (the page you get when you type in the IP Address). This new default landing page for RT targets contains read-only information, and therefore requires no authentication. Once you try to follow any of the links to other pages that allow for configuration, you should get requested to log in.

I may recommend you start a new thread topic as well on this on this, if this doesn't answer your question.

NI has published the following support document regarding Silverlight: https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/documentation/supplemental/22/ni-software-and-microsoft-silverlight...
