AVTP Common Header Decode and Encode Example

The IEEE 1722-2016 standard introduces a transport protocol for time sensitive applications in bridged local area networks (i.e. Audio Video Bridging (AVB) applications). The protocol is called Audio Video Transport Protocol (AVTP). Within it are defined three types of common header types which may be shared by different formats: Stream, Control, and Alternative. The header definitions are defined in the following images:

This example contains the AVTP Common Header Decode VI which demonstrates how to capture AVTP packets on the network and interpret them at the common header level and the AVTP Common Header Encode VI which shows how to encode and transmit AVTP packets. Note that at this level of common header interpretation, some fields are not fully defined and thus may require further parsing to fully interpret the AVTP packet.
