I came across this book "by accdent" (A friend gave me a copy).
It covers pretty much every aspect of Components (both theoretically and with real-world examples) and although some topics may not be directly applicable to LabVIEW, the ideas and motivations behind it are exactly the same.
With Chapters like "Object versus class composition, or how to avoid Inheritance" or "What a component is and is not" it has become a reference for anyone wishing to implement a component-based architecture (or just a simple component on its own).
