How do I take Imaginary Power into account for a three-phase motor?

For my senior design project we needed to measure the power supplied from a controller to a HPEVS AC-12  3-Phase Motor. We simply logged the current supplied and the voltage across one phase to get the power, however, we are unsure about what exact calculations/equations are needed to remove the imaginary power or if we even need to take imaginary power into account.

We are using this data for the sole purpose of finding the total power the controller consumes (from our batteries). Would this be the apparent power or the true power that we want to find?

Thanks for the help!
