Add Labels when creating a constant

I think the problem I am finding is that the control editor only allows you to see the front panel and not the block diagram. Yes, the lables are shown on the block diagram for the custom control (also, the same things happens wether is is a number or a string)

There is a setting that alows you to get labels of created constant by default (see Aristos first reply in this somewhat abandoned idea)

Tools >> Options >> Environment >> Tip Strips & Labeling >> Show Created Constant Labels

It is a bit dominant and I turned it off again after a while. As I said, in LabVIEW 2012 you can select all elements of the cluster (e.g. ctrl+click on each), the show all labels with a single right-click action.

He says he is creating the constants by right-clicking (terminal or wire, I guess). The created cluster constant will inherit all labels of the original so they will most likely have labels.

Hi,

   OK so Enviroment|Create Constant Lables Helped a little, but (see below) the left hand cluster is what im getting, and the right hand structure is what I want, any ideas?

That is just a matter of label location.

I believe 2012 just got some new options for the default locations.

Question:

Have you concidered viewing your cluster constants as an icon and when you want to remind yourself what is in the cluster, ctrl-h (show help) switch to wire tool and flaot over the wire?

It will give you more info than just the labels and you will avoid the "explosion" that occurs when you add more elements to the type-def.

I agree that labels in clusters are a bit of a mess. Here's a related idea you might like.
