When I right-click the icon, I don't get a "show connector" option. Only "edit icon," "VI properties" and "Find all instances."
I'm using labview 8.5. What am I missing?

Never mind. I was right clicking in the block diagram window, not the front panel window.
Sorry.

On the front panel, click on the terminal you want to assign a control to... then go click on the control you want to assign to that terminal

also ensure that the VI is unlocked or you wont even be able to see the option to do this. It's somethign like Some Toolbar Menu->Preferences->Protection->Unlock

But what if the input is not in the front panel of the subVI ? I want to connect a wire from the VI as input in the subVI.
