CF-18N toughbook won't show LV Runtime Front Panel Problem?

Has anyone else encountered an issue where a Panasonic CF-18N toughbook won't show a LabView Runtime Front Panel, (i.e. it's invisible)?

We have been running a CF-18 toughbook happily with LabView Runtime 7.1.1 under Windows XP.

A second CF-18 toughbook was then purchased as a spare, (but never loaded with software).

Now that we need to deploy the second toughbook, using the same software installation, it seems to be running the LV code but is only displaying a thin grey border around the Windows desktop, and the rest of the Front Panel doesn't show. The application is definitely running but almost invisible.

We wondered whether this was a problem with a graphics setting, and actually went through a complete re-install of Windows XP.

On investigation, we have discovered that the first toughbook's serial number begins with 'H', and the second one begins with an 'N'. This seems to denote the spec of the CF-18 internals; the CF-18H is a different performance machine to the CF-18N. The CF-18H uses an 82520 graphics chipset, and the CF-18N uses a 915GM chipset.

We've used the same install disks on three other different laptops and desktops, and the screens show ok.

I don't have any detail of the LabView code, as it needs to be retrieved from the archive.

Does anyone have any clues as to why this problem is occuring, and (even better) how to resolve it?

Can't help with a solution, but there do seem to be persistent problems with toughbooks. I have a client right now that is having problems with accessing serial ports from a LV executable -- but only on toughbooks.

Ok, Mike.

Re: your clients serial port - Sounds like a toughbook driver, not playing ball when it should...

Is it worth trying to identify the serial port interface, and use someone else's driver?

Thanks for the comment on my 'headache' anyway.

Andy.

Actually, that's one of the issues that I'm looking into.

I'm also hoping that this thread might attract other comments about trouble with toughbooks.
