Can I redirect Beep.vi to sound card?

Hi,

Sorry for the simple question.  I am in search of a way of sounding a tone for a  user selectable time.  The internal PC speaker is not loud enough.  Is there a way to make the Beep.vi to the sound card output.

I have tried using   Function generator and Play waveform VI's but the sample rate etc is confusing me.  I would rather not play a wav file as that involves something extra.

I am using LabVIEW 8.6.1

Thanks

Hi pgaastra,

i don't know if you can redirect it, maybe someone from ni can do it.

You can use the Audiooutput Express vi. There you can select the output device and you can learn how to write it with the audio functions. Therefore rightclick on the express vi and select "open FrontPanel".

Open up the Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples) and take a look at the example called "Generate Sound". As it's set up it generates a tone out of the speakers. You probably just need to change the frequency to get different tones.

You'll have to play a wave or some sort of sound file.  The BEEP.vi cannot be used over the PC speakers.

Follow the example that smercurio described.  It should do the trick.

Thanks, I can't seem to find Audiooutput Express.vi or were you just talking generically?

Hi pgaastra,

it's the only express vi in the audio -> output palette.
