We will probably never add any solution to this problem for project based discovery because ECAT uses Position addressing and not node IDs that would be slave assigned.
The solution for this problem would be to use the programmatic approach of discovering and deploying network setups.
This way you could make whatever change you want to your network and just discover and deploy again programmatically.
