Haha. I missed that. But, my answer applies to ramyar as well.
If you can't decide, you may as well flip a coin. If you want to be an engineer and you opt to ask sources that are biased towards one side, you'll get better information from the coin. You already know which way the individuals you ask lean.

I hardly know Matlab, but as much as I know about it, it is not a real programming language, as LabView is. I beleive LabView is just more universal, and has a larger "usage spectrum" compared to Matlab. I would learn LabView...
edit: I think Matlab is a scripting language...
