Anyone able to convert these 5.0 VIs to something readable by 8.6.
Is there a reason Labview cant do this automatically?

The VIs are attached. NI has just chosen to stop supporting the upgrade of older versions of LabVIEW. I'm sure there is a decent amount of work invloved in continuing to support that code, depending on how it was written. LabVIEW 5 is over 10 years old now, and I don't know what kind of penetration it still has. I haven't touched any LabVIEW 5, 5.1 code (other than upgrades for the forums) in 5 years. I still have one customer that uses it for one project, but it is pretty much a stable system and it needs no maitenance. The only time I can see them asking me to work on it again is to upgrade it to work on newer PCs/OSs/DAQ Hardware.
There are plenty of people on this forum like me who have multiple versions of LabVIEW installed and can do upgrades. I'm sure NI will probaby assist in an upgrade as well.

You can also get SSP (Standard Service Program), which will give you access to NI.com/SRC (service resource center) and you can download different versions of LabVIEW which will allow you to convert your code on your own. It will also give you access to direct technical support (by phone and email) and on demand training. Please let me know if you are interested in this.

Claire's links are bad.
SSP : ni.com/ssp
SRC: ni.com/src
They are case sensitive and the SSP link is completely corrupted.
Please note that ALL versions of code are NOT available for download. Currently, 8.20 is the earliest version of LabVIEW available, but it will open LabVIEW 5 code.

Claire,
If you create a link and do not include the http:// in the link, the forum software interprets that as a relative link. So, ni.com/ssp becomes http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/ni.com/ssp.
