DAQ Assistant with Compatible NI DAQmx not appearing

I need to use the DAQ Assistant per an assignment's instructions. However, it's not appearing in the Express > Input menu of the Functions Palette (see below). I installed LabVIEW 2021, and then installed NI-DAQmx 21.3. Per the LabVIEW/NI-DAQmx Compatibility chart, these versions should work together, but I'm still not seeing it. I also followed the order recommended by similar posts on this topic (e.g. Solved: DAQ assistant missing - NI Community). Any help would be appreciated!

You are looking in the wrong Palette.  The Dreaded DAQ Assistant (which is there to lead beginners in LabVIEW astray) can be found in the Measurement I/O Palette in the NI-DAQmx sub-Palette.

Thanks for your response. However, it doesn't appear for me in that menu either.

I was told by my instructor that it will only appear when my computer is physically attached to hardware, so I can't build the VI beforehand. I'm not sure from previous posts about the DAQ Assistant if this is true.

Well, I tried an experiment (which slightly blew up in my face) -- I took my LabVIEW 2021 system whose Palette (with the DAQ Assistant) I showed you, and tried to remove all the hardware I had attached to my machine, which included a few Remote Systems and my laptop's Integrated Webcam.  The Remote Systems were fairly easy -- unplug from the PC (if USB) or power off (if TCP/IP).  That left only the Web Cams, which could be disabled.  I checked, MAX showed no devices.  But when I opened LabVIEW 2021 and created a New VI, there was the DAQ Assistant.

What I suspect has happened is that you have not installed LabVIEW correctly (or possibly fully).  I assume you did it by yourself.  From more than a decade working with many versions of LabVIEW, I know how tricky and difficult it is to install it properly -- it frequently takes an expert (me) several tries to get it right.  When a student comes to me to ask if he (or she) can install LabVIEW on her computer for class, I've always said "Bring your Laptop to me and let me do it for you" -- it takes an hour or so, but is much less frustrating for the student.

There are numerous discussions on this Forum about installing (and re-installing) LabVIEW.  The fastest and surest way to a successful re-installation is to first do a complete removal of all National Instruments software (described multiple times in the Forum, including by me), and then to install LabVIEW, installing only the elements you need.  I also recommend you ask your colleagues and instructors for assistance in doing this ...
