DAQ module (NI PXIe-6363, PXI):

I am exploring different options to trigger NI-PXIe 6363.

Can we trigger NI-6363 with NI-4139 SMU channel by configuring APFI as trigger source.

If all modules are on the same chassis, you can make use of the PXI backplane trigger without any external wiring.

Connecting a SMU Signal to a PXI(e) Backplane Trigger Line in LabVIEW

to route the start trigger from PXIe-4139 to the backplane, then use NI-DAQmx Configure Trigger (Digital Start) VI in PXIe-6363 to receive the same trigger.

For more details, see Using PXI Timing and Triggering Functionality.

If you are using a 18-slot chassis, please take note on Routing PXI Trigger Lines Across the Buses of Multi Segment PXI Chassis.

For time sensitive measurements i want to avoid the backplane triggering.

Can you explain more about the time sensitive measurements?

If you are expecting a smaller skew, you should choose backplane over external wiring. See Table 2 in Synchronization Explained.
