DSC not logging data

I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this. I'm kind of at a loss. Do I need to just wipe the computer and start over with a new project? It would be a bummer of a day, but I almost out of time to get these data logging again.

thanks,

mike

I have now tried creating a brand new project, using the default database. Again, everything seems like it should be working. I can see the current data in Distributed System Manager, but there is no evidence that the data are being logged.

Hi, try to disable all security software protection (antivirus, firewall...anything that might block NI software), double check that both the library and the variables have the "Enable Data Logging" check on their properties. Is great that the variables are visible on the Distributed System Manager,  I would check the logged data at MAX. Setup a new database instead of using the default, it should be visible at the "Historical Data" section. Ex, follow the step by step pictures I attach to confirm that you can successfully create a new database and see the data. If this does not work you may need to repair your installation.

Thanks for this. I was not able to find the database, despite trying it in several different locations. It appears, too, that have several duplicate computers. When asked to select the computer to log to, the pulldown menu includes 2 entries "localhost" and 2 entries "OAdurafet" (the name of the computer in Windows). I'm suspecting that I messed something up porting the old data from the old computer.

At this point, what is my quickest route to fixing this installation? I'm tempted to just wipe labview and MAX off the computer and start over, but I wouldn't object to a simpler solution to remove all databases from memory.

Would people recommend abandoning my old project and just recreating all of my processes and shared variables?

thanks,

mike

Ok, I think it is working now. I don't understand it, but there is now data in the database, so I can live with it.

I ended up putting the database under my machine name rather than localhost (i.e., when I select "log alarms and events to computer"). I then selected the default database and then I can see the historical data. I still have localhost showing up twice in this list, which is strange, and possibly the cause of my problems.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Well, this problem has cropped up again. After a computer re-boot, the data are no longer being logged. Again, there is no evidence of this, the shared variables are still showing up and being updated in the Distributed System Manager, but when I go to look at historical data the data series ends on 2/27.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to re-start logging? This is really strange.
