Displaying indicators from a subVI into Main VI

I don't know why the data won't pass if the indicator is inside the Tab Control.  I got the same results you did.  If I move the indicator out of the tab control, I can access its data.  Maybe someone else here can explain how to access an indicator inside a tab through its reference.  Sorry, I don't deal with tab controls very much.

Aside from your problem, I notice your last name is Leach and your first initial is D.  I used to know a Denis Leach that hated Labview, he is a VB man.  I don't suppose that would be you.

Nope its Don -

I went ahead and incorporated all the upgrades into the real program.  Its a bit sluggish but it all works perfect from reading and transferring the rings, to the indicator lights, to strings and all.

Thanks a bunch Tbob!

I'm coming in a littel late here and the VI is a bit confusing but just doing Controls[ ] property will not give you the controls on a tab. You need to get the reference to the tab and proceed from there. See if the posting here and the example helps.

So that's how a control ref is obtained from a Tab.  Thanx a bunch Dennis, I learned something new today.
