Hi all,
My firewire FOCULUS FO442B camera gets recognized in the measurement and automation explorer in Labview,
but is unable to grab and gives the following error message: Error 0xBFF6900F : Attribute not supported by the camera.
All of the available camera modes are correctly displayed in the Video Mode box, but none of them can deliver images...
Is this a x64 vs win32 problem or am I missing something here?
Thanks

Hi Eluri,
I have a few a questions for you to ensure I understand your set up:
- What version of LabVIEW & Vision software are you using?
- What drivers do you have installed?
- Have you tried running any of the example VIs in the LabVIEW Example Finder?
- Which operating system are you using? The latest version of the drivers currently support Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Vista x64
Usually the firewire cameras use the IMAQdx drivers however some of the examples may have been written for the IMAQ drivers. Please can you try running the following: http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-3587
Please let me know how you get on with this.
From the error message you are getting it seems that you are trying to do something that is not included in your camera spec. What were you trying to run when you got the error message?
I think you will find this tutorial useful as well: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2977

Hi MahdiehG,
I am running Labview 2010 64 bit, with VAS (august) 2010. I currently use drivers that I downloaded from the Foculus website, but these seem to be quite outdated. However, these
drivers do work for another Foculus camera on this exact same system.
I have not tried running any of the examples yet, as I can't even connect to the camera in the measurement and automation explorer.
I am using windows 7 64 bit, but like I said the drivers do work for another foculus camera... When I got the error message I was simply trying to 'grab' images without changing the
preset camera mode (which was format 7... and then some specifications which I checked to be correct according to the camera manual).
So I find it to be strange that Labview recognizes the camera (with all of the correct camera settings) but fails to grab images from it.
Thanks for your time,
Eluri

Thanks Eluri,
You have confirmed my doubts that it's a driver issue. Older drivers may show you what camera you have but you will not be able to use all the functionality of the camera.
I would recommend that you approach Foculus (since they have written the drivers) and ask them whether they have a new driver set available. If they do not have the latest drivers set available you can write some yourself using the lower level VIs in LabVIEW.
