Hi forum,
I want to use an Agilent gpib - USB cable to communicate with a network analyzer.
Agilent IO libraries had to be installed and the tulip passport has been enabled. The device is visible on NI Max and responds normally to GPIB queries (see ni_max.png)
Unfortunately though, the device is not picked up by labview, running this very simple program, an error is generated:
Error -1073807302 occurred at VISA Find Resource in visa_test.vi
Possible reason(s):
VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003A) Unable to start operation because setup is invalid (due to attributes being set to an inconsistent state).
Interestingly, if the GPIB device is removed, the program functions well and displays a com port, provided that labview is restarted after removing the device.
Thank you in advance,
sgt peppers

Hi,
there is a KB that deals with this error. Please have a look at this.

VISA Error -1073807360 (system error) or Error -1073807302 when Stop Bits Set to 1.5

The KB indicates the problem is caused by having an OS mismatch of databits and stop bits I have 8 data bits and 1 stop bit which shouldnt be an issue according to the KB. Are there any other issues that can cause this error message? I am getting the error message when I request the status bit via VISA STB.

Hi, I am having the same problem. I followed the instructions here: http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/5990-3731EN.pdf. \
Done doing these:
– Enable the NIVISATulip.dll, and
– Enable the Keysight IO libraries Suite to work with NI 488.2.
Yet, my VISA Interactive Control shows "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003A) Unable to start operation because setup is invalid (due to attributes being set to an inconsistent state)".
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

You probably just need to enable the Tulip Driver in NI-Max
