Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me understand and hopefully troubleshoot my system as I'm still a relative novice to data acquisition and LabView.
Recently we had to update computers in our laboratory from Windows 7 to Windows 11. Within that update we ended up updating from I believe LabVIEW 2014 to LabVIEW 2020. Upon the initial update, our thermocouples (k-type) connected to a NI 9213 16-Ch 24-Bit Thermocouple input within a NI USB-9162 High Speed USB Carrier worked. One day, it stopped connecting to the computer. I messed around with Labview and did some updates and it seemed to work again. About 2 weeks later, the thermocouples once again stopped connecting to the computer.
My initial troubleshooting focused on the equipment. I swapped out the Input module for an identical one off of another piece of equipment, swapped the USB Carrier for a cDAQ-9171 Chassis, and even changed out the usb cable. None of that seemed to work which then led me into the VI.
When we run the VI, after a few minutes, we get the following error "Error - 229771 occurred at DAQmx Create Channel (AI-Temperature-Thermocouple).vi:620002"
Thinking something happened and I might have to recreate the channel (or reidentify the channels, not sure the phrasing) within the VI's DAQ Assistant, I went to it. While trying to load that, I got the following error. "The remote system is missing components required for editing - Load error".
I am working within the University of Michigan's system for instructional purposes. This equipment collects data for our students in a distillation experiment. I am kind of at a loss for what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris Barr

A few things you wrote lead me to ask the all important question. Did you use the Windows Device Manager to change the USB Hub power saving option to DISABLE "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"?
