Yup.  You're right on both points Altenbach.  Since you can't interact with a real traffic light, a simulation should also just have simple boolean controls faking the sensors that detect a waiting vehicle.

However, long wait times and unresponsive behavior are actually pretty realistic for most traffic lights. 😠
