FRONT PANEL SIZE

To All,

I created an application, but when I run the application only part of the application appears. I adjusted the window run time size, and now only part of my application is displayed.

For instance let said my application has a menu tab, when I run the appliction part of the front panel shows and only 3/4 of the menu tab appear.

Is there a way for the blank spaces of the front panel to not be shown?

Thank you,

Cosmica

Is this with the application running on the same computer? Can you upload a screenshot? (NO BITMAPS)

Yes it is running in the same computer, but I do have an additional laptop where I am testing it too.

Thank you,

Make sure your front panel appears just the way you want it to at edit time.  In Edit mode, I bet you are seeing that same blank space to the top and left.  Readjust your scrollbars until things appear the way you want.  Save the VI.

Then try running it again.

How did you adjust the window's runtime size? Are you using any of the auto-scaling options (either via the VI Properties or with the control itself)? Does the same thing happen for a control that's not inside the tab control? For example, if you place a numeric control on the front panel as well, what happens? Does the same thing happen with a new VI that you configure in the same way?

How did you adjust the window's runtime size? I adjusted using the VI properties.

I did get to not show the blank spaces, but If I set the window size for smaller than the panel, it would not show it.

About the resizing, everything inside the panel resizes too when I use the resizing window property. But the resizing is not in order. It messes up my whole configuration.

Thank you,

Automatic resizing of the controls on a front panel can be quite problematic.  I would recommend against doing that.  Search the forums and you'll find numerous threads on this issue.  You are best off sizing your VI for the smallest resolution you expect to run on and arrange your front panel for that.

How do I do the sizing for the smallest resolution?

You can temporarily change your monitor's resolution and set the panel size and controls. When you switch back to your normal resolution don't change the size of the front panel or the sizes of the controls. I have to do with the front panel of a main VI I have. I use a 21" monitor on my desk, but all the lab computers are 15" LCDs, so the window size and controls are set so it displays just fine on those screens. On my monitor the VI front panel window is small, but I make sure to never change its size.
