You are well advised to start with some of the tutorial mentioned to at least get the basics. What you are doing is like trying to learn how to read without first learning the letters of the alphabet. 😄

The thing labeled "sum" is not a function, but a numeric indicator shown as icon. In this particular case it is a system numeric, but that's irrelevant for understanding the code. Any numeric indicator will do.

Also note that I only show the code aprt that does the adding. In reality you would need all the trimmings so adding only occurs after a user has entered a new value, for example.
