Give up on Labview??

Good morning:

Seems from your remarks that you are overlooking one of the better uses for Labview. For many years I wrote Labview programs as HMI's for PLC software. I am reitred now, and miss the excitement of writing software projects, but I still try to keep my hand in and my skills current as much as possible. You might try writing simple HMI's for some of your PLC projects, just to get the feel of how they integrate into the overall projects; I think you will be surprised at the versatility they unlock as opposed to some of the other dedicated HMI software packages out there. Once I started using Labview, I rarely ever went back to the old canned software, except where it was necessary to accomodate a customer request or for compatability with existing hardware/software ( like in upgrade/mods-only projects ). If you find you like the Labview way, and I truly suspect you will, then you could try showing some of this to your supervisor(s) and collegues. A live example is the best way to convert a non-believer!

Hope you give this some serious thought, good luck

Looks interesting, hopefully NI will get the idea of releasing basic/express version of Labview. If not there are plenty of other software that do.
